Summer weekend trip with the grandkids.


“Gramps, we loved the Capitol. Seeing where the rioters waved Confederate flags, wow!”


“Ike, where next?”


“The White House, Tina.”


“Grandma, Grandpa, it’s so cool. The Prez lives upstairs. He doesn’t even need a wheelchair, they say! Can we go to the Supreme Court?”


“Sure, but they vacation July through September. No one will be there.”


They stood on the empty pavement out front.


“Granpa, it says ‘Equal Justice under Law.’ What does that mean?”


“Equal for the nine and their rich, powerful friends. I know it’s not equal for the rest of us.”
